America's Favorite Nomad Wheelstander
Flashback Nomad
Welcome to the Flashback Nomad website. The Flashback Nomad was the brainchild of famous movie prop master and Hollywood armorer "Hollywood" George Tuers. Having piloted other famous wheel standers like the Back Up Pickup, the Fugitive Corvette and Hell on Wheels, Tuers was inspired to build this blown 427 Chopped Nomad to pay tribute to the wheel stander cars of the 60's. The chassis was custom built by Jim Moore Enterprises in Glendale CA. There are no rear shocks or springs in the rear instead a full floating solid axle provides the stiffness needed to perform wheel stands. Strange Engineering prepared the wheel stander system with two titanium whel bars in the rear to keep the car upright. It took three junk Nomads to produce this crazy finished chopped body. The fiberglass one piece front end was specifically for Flashback by Unlimited Products of Corona. The custom Porsche red paint was done by Frank Dimambro of Simi Valley. Danchuk Manufacturing was the source of the reproduction trim, grille, bumpers, and dashboard. Steve Stanford applied the 14-karat gold leaf graphics. Under the rear roof sits the blown 427 V8 the block was machined by Bob Lambeck of Northridge, The Nomad was later converted over from alcohol to gas by Harvey St, Marie of Whittier CA. The interior has a single red Jaz racing seat surrounded by 1.75" mild steel roll cage. The car was finished in the late 80's early 90's and ran exhibitions during that time. One time holding the record for the longest wheel stand. The car to this day is in amazing condition and holds the patina you would expect from something that has been well kept all these years. It would be an amazing addition to any drag racing collection or would be a great opportunity to bring it back out and pull wheel stands to entertain the public at the next drag racing event.
